Dr.Y.THULAJAPPA is a Managing Committee member of Siddaganga Public School and Principal of SSK Pre University College. He is a former Professor and Head of the Botany department, National College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore-4. He obtained his B.Sc.(Hons) and Masters in Botany from Bangalore University. He got his Ph.D in Plant tissue culture (1981) from Karnataka University, Dharwad. Dr.Thulajappa has put in more than 30 years of teaching experience with immense popularity. He has served in various academic bodies of the Bangalore and Karnataka Universities, such as, Member of faculty of Science, Board of Studies in Botany, Chairman of the Examination board in Botany, Member of selection committee for research Scholars in Botany, Chief co-ordinator of B.Sc. syllabus in Botany etc. He had been appointed as the Chairman of Biology Part 1 syllabus committee by the Department of Pre-University Education in 1995 by Government of Karnataka and the syllabus made by him was in force upto 2005.
Dr.Y.Thulajappa has been the secretary of prestigious Bangalore Science Forum (Founded by Padmabhushana Dr.Narasimhaiah) which has bagged two national awards for popularizing science through arranging lecturers, science festivals, film shows on science subjects, Summer Schools in Science for VII and X standard students over a period of four decades.
He is also instrumental in starting the Sri Shivakumara Swamiji Science Lecture Series with the kind co operation of the management in our campus. Eminent scientists are being invited to address our students, teachers and the public at large in this part of the city.
